Hurricane Helene Response Fund

Helping our neighbors recover and rebuild their lives after the storm

Friends:

The devastation in our region caused by Hurricane Helene has been both catastrophic and tragic. Many of our neighbors lost everything to flooding, landslides, or falling trees. Even those whose homes and vehicles were not destroyed are struggling day to day with the long and arduous process of recovering and rebuilding after the storm.

Seniors, families with small children, and neighbors with mobility issues have been especially hard hit.

Thousands of our neighbors are struggling to meet the basic needs of feeding their families, keeping a roof over their heads, paying for essential utilities such as power and water as well as paying for life-saving medications and personal care items like diapers, feminine hygiene products, pet food and cleaning supplies. In addition to the emotional toll of the disaster, they are dealing with interruptions to their jobs, caring for and feeding children who can’t go back to their schools, and the anxiety of paying their bills at a time when their lives and jobs are so dramatically disrupted.

Because of the overwhelming increase in the number of neighbors needing assistance, and facing the prospect of weeks if not months of recovery time, IAM needs your support now more than ever.

Your financial donations will make it possible for IAM to continue to purchase nutritious food, personal care supplies, and essential clothing items like shoes, underwear, and socks. Your donations will also help neighbors pay their rent and afford the medications they need to stay healthy. Most importantly, your donation will be a lifeline for those who are dealing with the heavy emotional toll of this unimaginable disaster.

As you can imagine, it has been an incredibly busy time at IAM. Our hard-working staff and wonderful volunteers are faced with an unprecedented task as we work diligently to help our community recover from this natural disaster. Indeed, many of our staff and volunteers are working despite not having resources themselves. They are rock stars!

Thank you for your support now and in the future. You truly are the helping hands and caring hearts of our community!
